At approximately 8:13 a.m. , Thursday, August eighth. Blackhawk Middle School students were informed of a “change” in dress code at BMS as they were settling down for a writing prompt. Bam-crash! Students watched in confusion as Mrs. Jeffrey (the eighth grade language arts teacher) busted through the retractable wall. The students were left with questions of reason and timing. These thoughts deteriorated as Male Language arts teacher (Mr. Hugh) explained to the class the reason for the brisk interruption……it was a very important announcement.
Later on, it became perceivable that the athletics instructor was going to be delivering the poorly intended message. The instructor began with a simple question.”Black and white paper…..or colored?” The class exploded in confusion as well as laughter. Eventually a student shouted out; “For what?” The athletics instructor later replied; “For the newsletter.””The one about Blackhawk Middles School’s new form in dress code policy.” Once again the class erupted with chatter, but this time, a bit more demented. The instructor went on to say that after a forth coming break; a new dress code would be enforced. That the students would have and would be able to purchase discrete uniforms to wear at school. Students were enraged.
It was later concluded that the entire ordeal was staged….solitude was restored.
